Origin Energy
a Community Interest Company
This page can be used to do a first assessment of a site for its wind energy potential. It plots average annual wind speeds in m/s for 1km squares across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. In addition, a 600m buffer has been drawn around each property to indicate a minimum distance between them and a potential turbine. Parish boundaries have been included along with their name.
This website is best viewed in any browser except Microsoft Internet Explorer. It might not load properly in IE.
You may use the locater bar in order to search by place-name or postcode.
Loading of pages might be slow due to the large number of image files, so please exercise patience. An ideal site would have a wind-speed at 6.0 m/s or above and be outside a buffer zone. There are some discrepancies between the various types of Ordnance Survey maps used in the zoom levels of the chosen area and not all properties might have been shown with their corresponding boundaries so please exercise diligence and a keen eye!
